CATEGORY C1+E
Once the candidate has passed Category C1 the licence is updated by DVLA giving the provisional entitlement of C1+E and candidates can start the practical training. (There is no further Theory or Hazard Peception test if you have passed these tests previously.)
Candidates normally do an initial 2 hours of training so that we can ascertain the amount of further training required, particularly taking into consideration the reversing element of the test. As a rough guide costs are:
2 hours' practical training - £90 + VAT
Average courses - £520 to £840 + VAT + £115 test fee
Training is based on £45 per hour + VAT
Please note that training carried out at weekends may attract an additional premium.
PLEASE NOTE
If the candidate passed their car test prior to January 1997, they should already have C1+E on their licence with a restriction to 8.25 tonnes overall train weight. In order to lift this restriction the candidate will have to apply to DVLA is lift the restriction and take the LGV Multiple Choice Theory Test and the LGV Hazard Perception Tests prior to taking the C1+E practical test - please refer to the Category C1 section for more information.
