All of the Instructors with A1 Roadcraft are fully qualified ADIs (Approved Driving Instructors).

It is quite simple to tell the difference between a fully Qualified Instructor and a Trainee Instructor. All Instructors who have been approved by the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) must display their licence to teach in their car windscreen. Fully Qualified Instructors show a GREEN octagonal licence and Trainees show a PINK triangular licence.

We operate on a "Structured Training" programme. As with any subject of learning, there is a syllabus that must be covered to reach the Test standard. Therefore, with A1 Roadcraft you should be kept informed of your progress and this will help to keep your required Test date in sight throughout your course. At the end of each lesson, you will be informed of your progress during the session you have just completed, and also what you will be covering on the next lesson.

Tuition is undertaken at your pace, so if you would like to take between one and thirty hours in one week, then this can be arranged. However, we do not recommend fully intensive courses - ie 30 hours in one week. You can change the pace of your course at any time, which means that you are in control of your course - and your money!

For your Theory tuition, your instructor will refer to this during the course of all lessons and a specific theory lesson can be arranged if you require one. We recommend a DVD-ROM called "Driving Test Success" which includes theory and hazard perception and is available from computer/motoring stores, price approximately £9.99.

Before you are entered for your Practical Test, you will be "mock tested". Where possible, we try to ensure that another Instructor undertakes this mock test, to simulate the test conditions realistically.

Currently, the Theory Test including Hazard Perception costs £31.00 and the Practical Test costs £62.00.

If at any time you feel that you are not making progress, or do not like the car or the instructor provided (clashes of personality can happen), all you need to do is telephone the office and we will arrange a change of car/ instructor. It is very important that you get on with your Instructor as learning to drive should be enjoyable. The more you enjoy learning to drive, the quicker you will acquire the skills required to pass the Test.

We would normally suggest that you start with a 2 hour lesson, as a lot of information is exchanged on a first lesson. Also, it will allow you and us to determine your concentraction span and ensure that your lessons are taken for the optimum amount of time. This way, we hope to reduce any chance of wasting valuable lesson time because you are tired or can no longer concentrate fully.

If you have any problems or queries at all, please call on our Freephone number 0800 716156 or by email, advice is freely given.
